Drizzly rain is not so good for sun-bathing or sand csatle competitions, but is great for the bush and the winter’s plantings.
The Piha Tennis Club managed to get a blindingly hot day for its first senior contest on Saturday 29 December. Winners were Peter Stokes and Katie Meynell (seen above) who defeated Peter Hosking and Paula Stubbing 6-4, 6-2 in the final. The Tennis Club also had its AGM where Ross Pownall was re-elected president, Club Captain Peter Hosking, and Secretary, Liz Franich.
Winners of the men’s doubles were Peter Hosking and Matt Devitt, who defeated Mike Murane and Brockie King, 6-0, 6-1.
