At Auckland Council’s Annual Plan hearing (9 April 2013), submitter Yvonne Duncan of the Peace Foundation recommended an annual peace award for the region.

As an example of the kind of action that should be recognised, Yvonne instanced Fiona Anderson’s action in hosting the children from Ranui Primary at the Piha Campground, after she had had a good summer season.

Duncan commended the whole Piha community for their support of Fiona’s effort by providing transport, food, and activities.
