Such great weather and an ultra calm bay and Piha’s boaties came out in never before seen numbers on Waitangi Day, Monday 6 February.
Took this photo – pardon the flax stalk, but I could not reach to shift it without falling over the cliff.
As it happened, one at least of the boaties struck the big one and landed a marlin. Great jubilation among the fisherman, who made the New Zealand Herald; rather sad about the majestic fish.
Fisherman who landed the marlin was Paul Robson and skipper Duncan Clarke.
