Caught up with this group eating their lunch in the Domain at lunchtime Sunday. Coming from Mt Albert Grammar School, they had started the Hillary Trail at Arataki, camped at Karamatura and Pararaha and were on their way to Craw Campground before heading to Te Henga – the classic Hillary Trail. They had no complaints about any part of it, not even the mud, though legs had been felt on the Comans Track, a long slog up from Karekare to the end of Te Ahuahu Road which they were not expecting. When you think that that point is about 800 feet above sea level, you can see what they mean.
